Ana Milena Tamara was born and raised in Barranquilla-Colombia and has lived in the United States since 1994. Her love for art began at a young age and has blossomed in creating beautiful and meaningful pieces for her clients. With a keen eye for detail and a deep connection to her craft, Anami brings a personal touch to every project she undertakes. 

Anami studied architecture and graduated in Interior Design from Universidad Autonoma in Colombia with an outstanding academic achievement award. She then worked as a professor at her alma mater while teaching private art classes at her studio, and doing commissioned art.

When she moved to Miami, Florida she continued painting and improving skills. Through the years she has received several awards from City of Miami, South Miami, Sunny Isles, and Aventura.
The Colombo-American contemporary artist is committed to her art and keeps growing her list of paintings that are in private collections throughout the USA, Europe and South America.
She is inspired by the immediate and varied things she finds around, any object that catches her eye, she captures moments of everyday life particularly to tell a story.

Her creative process starts with an idea, followed by positioning objects to achieve balance where they complement and strengthen each other with the help of the important elements of light, form, value and the harmony of color. She works on several sketches, focus on spatial relationship, forms, texture, focal point until she is satisfied with a composition. Then she decides the size of the painting and continues with an aesthetic contemporary realism approach.

Anami initiates her still-life paintings with a rough underpainting with acrylics, and after refining lines, shapes, within the composition, she proceeds to work the light, color, shadows, determines values, adds layers of water mixable oil to work on the painting mood, details, and all the things that make the painting work.

The intention is to visually define a unique time and place with a particular mood and information to invite the viewer to move into and through the painting, to feel it, to create a visual dialogue. Anami hopes her paintings attract collectors that can relate to them on a human level that doesn’t need explanation and theorizing.
